Journalism of Courage
70% Practical and 30% Theory
The College Academic System operates on a 70 - 30 Ratio. 70% of our education is Practical and 30% is Theory. We firmly believe that good journalism happens by practise and by doing. Media is a practical field and each student must go in the field and work hard to become a journalist
IAAN Student Pyramid
The pyramid academic system is a tried and tested successful framework, which ensures practical career progression for students throughout their studies at the College. Each student starts at Level 5 and moves upwards to Level 1. Each step is a new learning process and students grow as journalists and as human beings as they advance upwards
Stages of Education at IAAN
STAGE 1: Foundation Year. Student establishes themselves as a budding journalist by learning the basics of media and understanding how media actually works, what it is and how suitable the student is for the different media domains.
STAGE 2: Choosing a Media Specialisation. Each student chooses their focus area and specialisation in media: the field in which they want to build their career.
STAGE 3: Practical Internship. Each student must undergo practical internship in the industry with a media house, as part of their studies so that they gain the neccessary exposure on how the media operates.
STAGE 4: Specialised Media Research. Each student must complete a specialised research project/ thesis in their final semester to be eligible for the Makhanlal University Degree. The research has to be original and ranges from 50 to 100 pages each, per student. The best research projects are eligible for the University Gold Medal as per academic norms and marks.
STAGE 5: Placement & Graduation. Each year, placement both on campus and off campus takes place, in which almost all students are recruited by different media organisations. The placements usually happen in the final year and it is our goal that all students secure jobs even before they graudate from the College.
